2026-09-28 v0.17.0

September 2026 Update

Official release updates for September 2026.

New Features

  • More features on the Free plan — Free projects now include BYOK (your own Resend, OAuth, and AI keys), bring-your-own storage (S3 / R2), custom HTML email templates, and Analytics Pro. See Limits & Quotas. in #409)
  • Webhooks on the Free plan — Free projects can now create up to 3 webhooks, with automatic delivery retries. Pro stays unlimited. See Webhooks and Webhook limits. in #409)
  • Broadcasts on the Free plan — Marketing broadcasts now only require a configured BYOK Resend key. A Pro plan is no longer needed. See Mail Platform. in #409)

Improvements

  • Higher Free mail quota — The Free plan now includes 50 emails per month, up from 25. Broadcast sends now count toward the same monthly quota as transactional mail. Failed broadcast sends don't use up quota. See Mail limits. in #409)
  • Clearer ub status output — The CLI now shows your webhook count against your plan limit. Unlimited resources display as Unlimited. See CLI overview. in #409)
  • Updated pricing and upgrade screens — The pricing page and the dashboard upgrade modal now reflect the new Free and Pro plans. in #409)
  • New urbackend.in domains — The public API now lives at https://api.urbackend.in and the dashboard at https://app.urbackend.in. The previous bitbros.in hosts stop working after 30 October 2026. Please update your apps before then. See API overview. in #412)

Bug Fixes

  • Webhook limit enforced reliably — Creating several webhooks at once can no longer exceed your plan's limit. At the limit, creation returns 403 with Webhook limit reached. Editing, deleting, and testing existing webhooks still work. in #409)
  • Self-hosted Docker Compose starts cleanly — The bundled MongoDB now runs as a replica set. The APIs wait until the database is ready before starting. in #409)
2026-08-31 v0.16.0

August 2026 Update

Official release updates for August 2026.

New Features

  • Permanently delete documents — The Database page trash view now has a permanent delete button next to restore. After a confirmation prompt, the document is removed immediately (no 30-day wait) and your database quota is reclaimed right away. See Permanent deletion. in #403)
  • Granular presigned upload methods in the SDK — @urbackend/sdk 0.4.8 exposes storage.requestUploadUrl and storage.confirmUpload, plus a static uploadToPresignedUrl helper, so you can generate a signed URL on your server and let a browser client upload directly to cloud storage without exposing your secret key. See Storage SDK. in #401)

Improvements

  • Data fetch limit raised to 1000 — The limit query parameter on data reads now accepts up to 1000 documents per request, up from 100. The default stays 100. See Limits and quotas. in 9895b5d and 759b694)
  • No 10 MB cap for bring-your-own storage — Uploads to projects connected to external (BYOD) storage no longer hit the 10 MB per-file limit. The limit still applies to urBackend-hosted storage, and the 413 error message now states the exact cap. See Storage limits. in 6e68950)
  • More accurate database usage tracking — Inserts, edits, and permanent deletes now measure actual BSON document size when updating your databaseUsed quota, so reported usage matches what's stored. in #403)
  • Publishable key masked by default — The dashboard now masks your pk_live publishable key in API responses and in the UI until you reveal it. in 282e8d2)

Bug Fixes

  • Soft-deleted documents excluded from populated refs — Reads that populate Ref fields no longer return trashed documents unless you pass include_deleted=true. in 54d34ee)
  • Create Collection showed empty collections — Fixed a missing response wrapper that made collections appear empty on the Create Collection page. in 54612b1)
  • Edit Collection loads safely — The Edit Collection form now shows a loading skeleton while data loads, preventing edits from being saved against stale state. in 86aadcd)
  • SDK works without Blob — @urbackend/sdk 0.4.8 guards Blob instanceof checks so storage uploads work in runtimes where Blob is undefined. in #401)
